Today Karate Manitoba sent the below e-mail setting out their regulatory framework for the sport. I ought to note that the e-mail is somewhat overly broad. It is not accurate to say that “all amateur karate competitions in Manitoba should be approved by Karate Manitoba” This statement is only true to such karate competitions that can be deemed as ‘prize fights’ under s. 83 of the Criminal Code.
